Wabash, IN – A tragic house fire in Wabash on Sunday claimed the life of a 2-year-old child and left a 6-month-old infant critically injured.
The fire was reported at 12:10 p.m. at 646 Columbus Street, after a passerby alerted family members to the blaze, which started on the first floor of the home. Firefighters from Wabash and Noble Township quickly responded to the scene.
Authorities reported that 2-year-old Deliaha Goforth was found dead inside the home, while the infant was rescued in critical condition and flown to Riley Hospital in Indianapolis for treatment.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Indiana State Fire Marshal’s Office.
